If you think you would like to get educated about all things 'borders', this is the class for you. Our next class is July 15th and 22nd. This is a great class for summertime.
Look at the importance of borders on a quilt, types of borders, what to consider when adding a border to a quilt, and how to add that border so the edges of your quilt are not wavy.
Learn several popular border patterns, look at where Accuquilt fits in the process and check out how Pauline Rogers tackles borders. Then, there's mitered corners, cornerstones, and Ten Sisters borders, and even a free motion discussion about borders.
This class is full of information. It will benefit you for years to come.

July 18th, 19th, and 20th, 9-5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
QuiltersB offers virtual quilt retreats. Yes. On Zoom. All you need to do is download the free Zoom app onto your laptop. Then we can chat, sew, learn and build friendships for three days, 9-5:00 p.m. Eastern time. And it's all happening in your own sewing room.
No need to pack everything up. No long drives to the retreat site. Sleep in your own bed. Get snacks from your own kitchen. Pull out UFOs and complete them. Make table runners. Catch up with class projects. This is such a sweet deal.
And I will sew right along with you. During this retreat we will explore a variety of options for prairie points: how to make them, apply them, and more. I will share a table runner pattern that's easy and fun to make. We can sew it together. Or you can do your own thing and be creative on your own projects the entire time. It will be like free classes. Woot! Woot!
Do join me for this virtual retreat. The camaraderie is great.

June - November - one Monday each month, 2-5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
As I have taught foundation paper piecing, many asked if I would offer a class every month. When I suggested my idea of a monthly CLUB, there was enthusiasm. And so, this is another dream of mine coming true.
I will still offer popular paper piecing classes for anyone on our page to enjoy. However, the paper piecing CLUB will enjoy novel little patterns that will be seasonal fun, and could be included in table runners or quilts.
Most of the patterns I select come in a variety of sizes. That means you can choose your size for your project. As part of your membership in the club, I will purchase the patterns and send them out to you each month. I aim to keep the patterns fairly simple so they can be completed in class.
I do hope you'll consider joining me. We're offering this CLUB for six months. Let's see how it works for you. If it is a success, we'll consider another club in 2027.
Six three hour classes on Zoom
Monday, June 22, July 27, August 24, September 21, October 19, November 23, 2-5:00 p.m. Eastern
Schedule uninterrupted sewing time.
These mini retreats are offered through QuiltersB to promote the idea that we can all sew together and be motivation for each other.
Click here to register for any of these mini retreat/Christmas Workshops.
Summer workshops: May 22, June 26 and July 24, 2026
Overwhelmed quilters need uninterrupted sewing time for unfinished projects, Christmas sewing, and for catch-up on class work.
Many want company in their sewing room. Others want to know there is someone who can help them with a skill. So, join me in my sewing room. I will join you in yours. Let's help each other, and sew together on Zoom.
Schedule one day once a month for uninterrupted sewing. Write it on the calendar. Educate your family that you are dedicating that day to the sewing room. Maybe plan ahead so supper is in the freezer.
Call this a mini-retreat, a therapeutic respite, or a Christmas workshop. The spirit is the same; we are all like elves preparing for that big day when we gift a quilt to someone. Many of us just need to breathe and create.
It is possible to register for one day or two or three. Please know that the cost is slightly less if you pay for the three day package. But this payment option gives you some flexibility, month to month.
AND IF YOU REGISTER FOR THE CHRISTMAS CLUB, you are given a discount to these mini-retreat days of sewing.
This is a two day class:
Wednesday and Thursday, July 1 and 2, 10-1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Click here to register.
This class guides you through making a project with fusible grids. You may have heard about the Ten Sisters grids. The grids are phenomenal to work with. I've made large quilts and smaller wall hangings.
Pick out a free or inexpensive smallish pattern from the Ten Sisters website and make it in this class. You will be amazed at how easy and relaxing it is to work with the grid and create a memorable table runner, table topper or wall hanging. Maybe find something special for the 250th. I've got my eye on a red, white and blue table runner.
The skills learned easily translate to making larger quilts. Every square will line up. With your own fabric choices, create patterns that are unforgettable. Make patterns you could never manage if sewing all those individual blocks together one at a time.
Friday, July 10th and 17th, 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. Eastern time
If you ever wanted to make a t-shirt quilt, then this is the class for you. It's amazing what you can do with tees, sweatshirts, polo shirts, pajamas, nightgowns, dance costumes, and even the merit badge sashes from scouts.
T-shirt quilts are a canvas for your creative touch. You can do anything. Make a quilt with sashing around the tees; make a quilt that looks like a collage of different sized logos. I can show you how to do it all.
Making a t-shirt quilt is about a 12 step process from start to finish. Each step takes time, but in the end you have a quilt that lasts a lifetime. It can be gifted with knowing you pulled someone's memories together into a living scrapbook, and they will be eternally grateful.

Wednesday, July 15th and 22nd, 10-1 p.m. Eastern time.
This class gives you a chance to see what you can do with borders. If you want a fun look, an interesting look, perhaps something mysterious, then come take a gander at border options.
Play with block designs that when repeated create delightful border patterns. The photo in this picture is not something I created. However, I share it as a delightful mind play for optional borders.
I'm even looking at BOB dies to see if we can create borders with what we may have at our fingertips or on our shelf. Why not see if we can make those BOB dies work!
This will be a challenge to some of us. To others, you may shout with glee when you see what we can do. The class is in its evolving stages so if you have requests that I can address, let me know.
Wednesday, July 8th and 15th, 2-5:00 p.m. Eastern Time
Basic foundation paper piecing is a delight. For many it is written-off as frustrating. However, paper piecing can be a respite from daily activities.
This project teaches how to make four basic trees. We start with the easiest and gradually expand our skills to the more complicated. It is like putting a puzzle together, sewing fabric onto paper, and creating a lovely table runner or wall hanging.
Supplies for the class? A pack of Carol Doak's Foundation Paper, scraps of green fabrics and brown for the tree trunks. Either scraps for the background or a few fat quarters. Possibly 1/2 yd for borders, and 1 1/2 yd for the backing. Won't you join me?
I have come to appreciate paper piecing and the look it creates. The straight lines define the shapes. It's like art in your home, art made from your own hands. It's an awesome conversation starter, and you can smile with pride because you are the artist.
Make your basic green trees or create something whimsical from scraps that you've collected. A stash buster project!!
July 16th, 10-1:00 p.m. Eastern time.
Thursday, July 16th, 10-1:00 p.m. Eastern time
Fidget quilts are the best for autistic children, Alzheimer's patients, even those with anxiety like children awaiting treatment in hospitals. Perhaps you have a senior member of your family who would benefit from this small quilt.
Supply list includes interesting notions from your sewing room: lace, felt, elastic, Velcro, cuddle, buttons, novel fabrics, zippers, chenille, ribbon, rick-rack, even crinkly candy wrappers. Believe it or not the mesh bags from onions and potatoes can be put to good use. Additionally, these fidget quilts use fun fabrics, fusible fleece, batting and flannel backing.
If you're a Pauline Rogers Quilt As You Go person, bring your sasher tools and make your fidget quilt construction even easier.
Friday, July 17 and 31, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
Come and see what Laurie has to offer. Enjoy her enthusiasm for teaching and learning. She has so much to share, and we are lucky to have her.
Last October I talked with a Quilt of Valor director and learned that Quilts of Valor requirements can be flexible. Laurie Jimenez, our Quilts of Valor teacher from Texas, is going to share her love for Quilts of Valor because of her dad's service to our country. She's also going to expand our understanding for what is involved in the Quilts of Valor process.
It feels right that we open this class during the 250th anniversary year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Why not make a Quilt of Valor for a loved one? Why not learn what is involved should you want to make a quilt for a veteran and gift it in November?
The Orange Peel-4 1/2" is a marvelous beginner appliqué shape that is designed to be used with the Square-5" (55010) die or pre-cut 5" squares or 5" squares cut from the 5" strip die. Let's play with color and arrangement to create a variety of patterns and unique designs.
The orange peel die has lots of hidden talent. It's a treasure, and it's a delight to play with.
This class introduces you to a variety of patterns that can be constructed with the orange peel die. I love how versatile the die can be.
I will share layouts you might enjoy. Create a runner, wall hanging or something more sophisticated. Perhaps make a pillow for your couch.
Class is Tuesday, July 28th, 2-5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
This is a Scott Flanagan pattern. It is a downloadable seasonal design that targets 'confident beginners' and intermediates. The downloadable pattern is reasonable to purchase. The quilt finishes at 88" x 88".
When I saw this pattern, I jumped for joy. It is a lovely pattern that is easily converted to Accuquilt shapes. And so this is a quilt class I would love to tackle with you. Let's use our Qube!
The pattern is adaptable. The adapted option is called the 'Winter North' version. That is simply a matter of altering the log cabin placements and eliminating the corners.
Class will last six months: July through January. There will be two classes each month with an empty week in between to give us working/piecing time.
Wednesday, August 5 and 12, 2-5:00 p.m. Eastern.
Often we purchase an Accuquilt bundle. That sets us up with all the basics for entering the Accuquilt landscape. However, when there is a Qube as part of the bundle, we may never take the cellophane off that Qube. It will sit on the shelf forever unless we make an effort to learn what the Qube is about.
This class is a hands-on introduction to the Qube. Learn about marking your Qube, and cutting with the shapes. Learn about sewing the shapes into a simple quilt block and a more complicated quilt block. Then you will be all set for any Accuquilt adventure on the horizon.
Ahead of time, send me your questions so everything gets answered. I will do demos. You will practice. I will show you the process for sewing a quilt block. Those beautiful blocks you see in beautiful quilts will become reality for you because I will teach you how to make your dreams come true.
Six classes starting August 7 and 21, Fridays, 10-1:00 p.m. Eastern time
Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet created a series of flowers that finish at 10 1/2" x 20 1/2". This class walks us through her directions, making the cutting as Accuquilt friendly as possible.
Make these flowers as individual wall hangings for summer or fall. They are quite lovely actually and satisfying to make.
The flowers can also be joined to create a quilt for the back of your couch or possibly a bed runner for the foot of a bed.
If you have the 8", 6" and 4" Qubes, you'll find these not so hard to make. Some pieces will need the rotary cutter but we'll balance that out. I will say that if you're into free motion quilting, these are a delight to embellish with all that you've learned.
One flower each week with an empty week in between so we can complete our flower.
Aug 7 and 21, Sept 11 and 25, Oct 9 and 23
Eight three-hour classes on Zoom
Two Saturday classes each month:
10-1:00 p.m. Eastern time.
August 8 and 22, September 12 and 26,
October 10 and 24, November 21 and December 5
Starting Saturday August 8th and 22nd, 10-1:00 p.m. Eastern time.
For a long time, I wanted to teach an Underground Railroad class. Since slaves lived on Southern plantations, the Underground Railroad has been talked about. It fascinates me as a teacher and a student of USA history. Many say it is more myth than fact, and yet repeatedly the tales are told, celebrating black heroes and white heroes from days long gone.
We will look at 12-16 quilt blocks. Instead of hand quilting, we will bring these blocks into today, make them Accuquilt friendly, and design our own Underground Railroad quilt. What story might we tell? At the least, we will enjoy sewing and piecing together; at the most, we will walk away with an appreciation for history, what it tells us, and what we might choose to read between the lines.
This class is four months long: August - December. There will be two classes each month, highlighting 2-3 quilt blocks monthly. Block sizes could vary. Focusing on 6" or 12" blocks seems suitable for the class focus.
No books or patterns are required for the class. Simply choose your fabric scraps or perhaps 1/2 yd cuts for blocks. Add 2 yards for a border and sashing.
The snails trail die can create waves as you see here or it can be used in combination with other dies to make refreshing patterns. Pick out some beautiful fabrics and make a delightful quilt or wall hanging with the same background or a variety of backgrounds.
My last snails trail class was for a wedding quilt last fall. My grandson and his wife-to-be requested this pattern. We put cuddle on the back. They use their quilt on the couch when cuddling in winter.
In my way of thinking, this design has it's own way of calming, especially when you play with fabrics. Do join me and learn the most efficient way to use this BOB die.
Let's have a bit of summer fun!
Click here to register. Class is Friday, June 19th, 10-1:00 p.m. Eastern time.
The beauty of quilting is the multitude of styles, approaches, perspectives, techniques, and art. Add in the wide variety of quilters 'out there' with their personal interests and anything is possible.
I am a teacher who listens. Your input is always welcome. I love the ideas you bring to the table. So, give me the kernel of a class and let me mull it over. We'll brainstorm and be creative.
Do you have a class wish list? Do you have ideas I should know about? By clicking here, share your wishes. I'm all ears.
For three years, I taught the Storm at Sea class. Over time, I combined it with the Snails Trail. But I've had some of you - on the wish list - request a class again for the simple Storm at Sea. So, this is it!
I'm putting the class into July because it feels like this is a good follow up to the Snails Trail class in June. We will meet July 6th, 2-5:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
The Storm at Sea die is unique. I really love the design it gives us. I will present you with a study guide so you are able always to use your die. In class, we will review the study guide and complete a block. Then you will have a sample of the process.
