The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt

One class monthly from December through August. Quilt blocks will be highlighted and discussed. Complete every quilt block if you choose or pick your favorites. Enjoy the stories that go along with them.

There is a whole month to work on the blocks so we can tackle them at our own pace.

The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt

This class is for those who are interested in 6” quilt blocks from the 1920’s and the stories that go with them. Laurie Aaron Hird has written a book called The Farmer’s Wife Sampler Quilt. There are 111 quilt blocks shown in this marvelous book. Some of you may want to make them all. Some may choose to make only select blocks. Create a lap, a twin, a queen or a king.

Of course, that’s your choice. However, you might enjoy the stories and the chatter about life as a farmer’s wife. This will be a 9-month class. One class each month: beginning Thursday, December 10th, 5-8:00 p.m. Central Time and lasting through August 19th, 2027.

I enjoy taking on the challenge of historical quilts. I love teaching the Underground Railroad quilt code folklore class. It gives me an opportunity to explore the history I did not absorb when I was a child. Now it is much more interesting, especially as it becomes quilt language.

The 1920’s was a different time in history with unique challenges in our culture and society. It will be a pleasure to explore the Farmer’s Wife quilt blocks, especially since I knew my grandparents well, and their life on the farm.

ALL ZOOM classes are recorded and downloadable for 5 DAYS (120 hours) after the live class. The recording is e-mailed to registered students after class. Links to the pdf of the class PowerPoint is shared as a permanent reference for class content.

A listing of class supplies will be shared by the instructor prior to the start of class. The class link is generally mailed 2-3 hours prior to class so the link doesn't get lost in personal emails.
